Alpenstück
maandag 26 augustus 2013
Whether you prefer yours Viennese style, paper thin and spilling over your plate or the worryingly slab like variety in the supermarket chiller cabinet, Schnitzels are two a penny in Berlin. Finding a schnitzel is easy enough, but finding good schnitzel? That is another matter entirely. Thankfully, Miniloft is serviced by the relatively near Alpenstück, which offers a slice of South German cuisine by way of Mitte.
van Loon Restaurant
vrijdag 16 augustus 2013
Moored along the Landwehrkanal towards the leafier parts of Kreuzberg, the van Loon Restaurant boat is easy enough to find – just look for the boat by Baerwaldbrücke.
Markthalle Neun
vrijdag 2 augustus 2013
The Markthalle was a mixed experiment in Berlin shopping when the first indoor market halls were opened in the late 19th Century. Within a relatively short space of time, the majority of the fourteen grand buildings, the design of August Lindemann, closed. Markthallen were an unfortunate casualty of capitalism, thwarted by outdoor markets like Maybachufer and new department stores that promised bigger, better and more exotic produce than Brandenburg ever had to offer.
Michelin Stars

Berlin and food bring up numerous associations to visitors. There’s the ubiquitous currywurst and kebabs. There’s the slew of Swabisch, Turkish, Italian, Vietnamese, and the rather dubious Indian restaurants touting gastronomic delights from around the world. But fine dining may not be your first connection when you hear the words "eating out in Berlin".
Computerspielemuseum
donderdag 18 juli 2013
The Computerspielemuseum is what happens when nostalgia and technology meet in Berlin. Originally open as an exhibition from 1997 to 2000, the museum was (and still is) the largest collection of computer gaming memorabilia in the world. After an eleven-year wilderness period existing online-only the museum re-opened a physical space in 2011. It’s home, amidst the suitably sharp angles and blocks of Karl Marx Allee, is just a 5 minute ride from Alexanderplatz and a portal back into many an 8-bit childhood.
Preview Berlin Art Fair 2013
donderdag 27 juni 2013
As the final sounds of summer become increasingly distant and thoughts return to daily routines, Berlin gets back to the business of art. Towards the end of September, Art Week kicks into gear, which means collectors, galleries and of course, the artists themselves. It’s an extravaganza of openings, exhibitions, events – and for those with a disposition towards the new, the Preview Berlin Art Fair.
IFA Consumer Electronics Tradeshow
donderdag 27 juni 2013
Another pick from Berlin’s annual list, the IFA Consumer Electronics Trade show kinda does what it says in the title. And yet there is something more to the six-day takeover of the ICC Messe in Berlin. The space fills up with exhibitors from some 57 countries, showing their wares to the 240,000 that meander around in the hope of uncovering something new, innovative – and perhaps even useful.
Legoland Discovery Centre
donderdag 13 juni 2013
Growing up in a house surrounded by LEGO blocks, the possibilities were endless. We had a local airport for a hospital that served a quiet sleepy village filled with Star Wars characters, in many many games that often included parents alongside instruction manuals. LEGO has always been more than your average toy for all ages, so no surprises that Berlin’s LEGOLAND Discovery Centre at Potsdamer Platz is more than your average theme park.
Naturpark Südgelände
donderdag 6 juni 2013
Some sites in this city are not surprising. Anyone visiting can expect to see the TV Tower or the Brandenburg Gate at some point in their trip. But the things that make Berlin really special are those that are unexpected.

Head out of the city for a weekend of fresh air, music, meditation and Yoga. This June 13-16th sees the 9th annual Yoga Festival Berlin.
