It is not the first time we have talked about Films about Berlin in our blog, but this great film festival could not be missed.
The Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) was founded in 1951 and it is celebrated every February all across Berlin.
More than 400 international films are shown during the festival in different locations and around twenty films compete for the awards called the Golden and Silver Bears.
Over the years we have had the honour of hosting many of the participants and we have a good location, just few minutes walk from the Friedrichstadt Palace, the biggest cinema at the International Film Festival with 1,895 seats.
From Alfred Hitchcock, the first one opening the festival with his film Rebecca, to Madonna and George Clooney, Berlin transforms into the land of celebrities, journalists and film fans.
This year, the Berlinale screens "An Englishman in New York" (2009) in honor of the English actor Sir John Hurt, who passed away on the 25th of January and who was a regular attendant to the festival, and starred in 12 films presented as part of its overall lineup.
