Hackendahl
Martedì 24 Marzo 2015
Friedrichstrasse sometimes gets a bad rep for being all big shops and tourist spaces, with little room for anything else. People who say that, haven’t managed to take a trip to Hackendahl. Down the road from us, Hackendahl is a cozy pub and bar that manages to bring back a sense of Berlin from yesteryear – and is perfect for a spot of late winter restitution, when the sun hasn’t fully come out to play.
Tours of the Komische Oper
Giovedì 19 Marzo 2015
As far as facades go, the Komische Oper’s couldn’t be more worthy of the title. If you venture there, you’ll see a pretty simple wrapping, a hint that perhaps the Komische Oper is in fact a stripped down opera house. But once you are through the foyer, you’ll see the usual grandeur you’d expect. Why is this so? Well, that’s a question...Stummfilmkonzerte – Silent Cinema, in concert
Martedì 17 Marzo 2015
They say a picture is worth a thousand words – but what about when you add a soundtrack? The Stummfilmkonzerte is based upon that very idea – an enhancement of some classics of silent cinema, recontextualised with new music over the top. Sounds simple, but the result is anything but, with Stummfilmkonzerte pretty much worthy of landmark status...Kaschk
Martedì 10 Marzo 2015
Yes, there are plenty of places to stop off for a coffee in Berlin. But Kaschk may make you think differently about the coffee ritual come after hours. The genius of Kaschk (a direct relative to Oslo Kaffebar) is actually based on a pretty simple premise: not everyone wants to leave the coffee bar at the end of a working day. And so, if you find...Cantina in der Bar Tausend
Lunedì 23 Febbraio 2015
They say first impressions can be deceiving – and you could be fooled by the harsh concrete door at Bar Tausend. But once you ring the bell and make your way through the somewhat brutal entrance, you’ll find one of Berlin’s hidden gems. The Cantina at Bar Tausend, located in Mitte, a short amble along the Spree from Friedrichstraße, is a...Going Gluten-free at the Jute Bäckerei
Giovedì 19 Febbraio 2015
For whatever reason, be it health necessity or personal choice, a gluten-free lifestyle can be immensely rewarding, but incredibly difficult when travelling. Particularly to a country like Germany, where wheat has a special place in many a German heart, be it from beer or baking. But for all those who are gluten-free, fear not – Berlin once...Berlino con i bimbi al seguito
According to The Local, a new start-up is founded every 20 minutes in Berlin, with their estimates suggesting 100,000 new jobs by 2020. In 2014, it was the first year of the state endorsed Long Night of the Startups – a chance for investors to meet ideas and for the rest of us to try and get our heads around what a start up is and does. Whilst the very nature of its way of business means Berlin’s start up scene is hard to pin down, with so much of it taking place near Miniloft, we thought it only fair to give you a bit of a rundown.
