Girls Day at the Freie University
Lunedì 17 Marzo 2014
When I was growing up, my mother told me I could be anything I wanted to be. That ethos is more attainable than ever for young girls, but how do you convince someone to pursue that dream, and turn it into a reality? The Girls Day at the Freie University here in Berlin is one such way – an open day, aimed at 5th to 10th graders that are keen to do it differently.
Updates from Museum Island…
Mercoledì 5 Marzo 2014
The museums of Berlin are the first place on many a visitors itinerary, with the epicenter of cultural musings located on the ever efficiently named Museumsinsel – Museum Island. Boasting heavy hitters like the Pergamon, the Altes Museum, the Neues Museum (of David Chipperfield interior fame), the Alte Nationalgalerie and the Bodes Museum, it’s an area that has endured the test of time. But there are plenty of updates from this most dependable area of Berlin, including a great new way to explore it.
Urban Spree
Giovedì 27 Febbraio 2014
To say that Berlin’s much lauded art scene is multifaceted is a slight understatement – in this city, your options for art range from the traditional national galleries to the current crop of artists in Auguststraße through to something a little more grassroots. Underpinning Urban Spree, on Revaler Straße in Friedrichshain, is that idea of community – of seeing Berlin as more than a showroom and finding the muse in the city.

Berlin is a city that is fantastic on a sunny day, with plenty to keep minds young and old occupied just by walking through the streets. But what about those days where it’s easier to stay inside? Well, you can still easily take in the sights of the city by heading to the Loxx Model Railway at Alexa.
Berliner Unterwelten
Venerdì 24 Gennaio 2014
A visit to this fair city we call home at Miniloft is always full of surprises – especially if you scratch beneath the surface. And a more literal application of that will lead you to a world of wonders beneath the streets of Berlin, mainly due to the tours that have been led by Berliner Unterwelten rather consistently over the years. A tour company fixated on the hidden delights of Berlin, Berliner Unterwelten is all about subterranean exploration, peeking in at the fascinating glimpses of Berlin’s past that have been hidden underground.
St. Agnes Church
Venerdì 10 Gennaio 2014
Berlin is not a city to just hand it’s numerous spaces over to history. In the past few years, the growth of the capital can be found in the bounty of new cultural hotspots, filling gaps left from former times. The St. Agnes Church is the latest in a long line of cultural redevelopment, this time taking a former church and turning it into a multipurpose destination for art, design, writing, performance and more.
The Barn & The Barn Roastery
Venerdì 29 Novembre 2013
Sometimes a coffee is there to serve a purpose and offer you a little caffeinated pick-me-up. And then there are the times where you choose pleasure over purpose. It is then that you head to The Barn. With two locations in Berlin – one in Prenzlauerberg (The Barn Roastery) and one in Miniloft’s district of Mitte – The Barn is a strong contender for Berlin’s best cup of coffee.
Soviet Memorial in Treptower Park
Mercoledì 20 Novembre 2013
Berlin is currently preparing itself for winter, which means long meandering walks are not always top of the list. However, we at Miniloft think you should make an exception for the Soviet Memorial – a site that in our opinion, actually resonantes in a setting when the days turn shorter, and bleaker.
Bergmannkiez
