Getting Green in Berlin: Miniloft’s favourite Urban Gardens
maandag 30 juni 2014
Berlin is by design a green city – and at Miniloft, we like to think of ourselves as a green-fingered lot. Whether it’s the roofgarden you’ll find at the top of our apartments, or the allotment our manager Andy keeps in his spare time, one of things that continually inspires us about Berlin is the creative and clever ways people manage to grow their own little oases in the city.
The OM-D: Photography Playground
maandag 12 mei 2014
Berlin is a photographer’s paradise – the sheer variety in architecture, city textures and those surprising wide open spaces that seem to pop out of nowhere offer plenty of fodder for your Flickr account. And then there are the places that are specially created with photographers in mind. And so we present the OM-D: Photography playground, a kind of pop exhibition come advertisement come photography wonderland made possible through Olympus.
Getting Romantic in Berlin
maandag 14 april 2014
Berlin. Poor but sexy – but also, romantic, tender, suave and sophisticated? The last three adjectives may be pushing it a little, but romance is surprisingly easy to come by in this city. It may not have the gushing grandeur of Paris of the exuberant elegance of Rome, but Berlin can surprise you with some perfect spots to share with your beloved.

Computerspielemuseum
donderdag 18 juli 2013
The Computerspielemuseum is what happens when nostalgia and technology meet in Berlin. Originally open as an exhibition from 1997 to 2000, the museum was (and still is) the largest collection of computer gaming memorabilia in the world. After an eleven-year wilderness period existing online-only the museum re-opened a physical space in 2011. It’s home, amidst the suitably sharp angles and blocks of Karl Marx Allee, is just a 5 minute ride from Alexanderplatz and a portal back into many an 8-bit childhood.
Preview Berlin Art Fair 2013
donderdag 27 juni 2013
As the final sounds of summer become increasingly distant and thoughts return to daily routines, Berlin gets back to the business of art. Towards the end of September, Art Week kicks into gear, which means collectors, galleries and of course, the artists themselves. It’s an extravaganza of openings, exhibitions, events – and for those with a disposition towards the new, the Preview Berlin Art Fair.
IFA Consumer Electronics Tradeshow
donderdag 27 juni 2013
Another pick from Berlin’s annual list, the IFA Consumer Electronics Trade show kinda does what it says in the title. And yet there is something more to the six-day takeover of the ICC Messe in Berlin. The space fills up with exhibitors from some 57 countries, showing their wares to the 240,000 that meander around in the hope of uncovering something new, innovative – and perhaps even useful.
Deutsch-Französisches and Deutsch-Amerikanisches Volksfest
vrijdag 3 mei 2013
The legacy of occupied Berlin may not immediately signal fairground rides and food stalls, but the Deutsch-Französiches and the Deutsch-Amerikanisches Volksfests may make you think again. A carnival culture prevails throughout the summer, with two festivals born out of the French and American sectors.
Gallery Weekend 2013
donderdag 21 maart 2013
Last year’s Gallery Weekend featured some 51 galleries and around 1,000 guests – and Gallery Weekend 2013 promises to be even bigger.
Lange Nacht der Museen
donderdag 7 maart 2013
At the risk of jinxing ourselves, we are beginning to feel the first flushes of spring around Miniloft. Which means all of our “stay outdoors for as long as possible” itches are about to be scratched. For those looking to explore the city whilst taking advantage of the (oh-so-slightly) balmier nights, Berlin’s Long Night of the Museums (Lange Nacht der Museen) is a definite highlight.
