Schlachtensee and Die Fischerhütte
Giovedì 5 Agosto 2010
In lazy summer, a trip out to one of Berlin's many lovely lakes is the perfect day trip. The lake Schlachtensee is smaller and more intimate than the nearby Wannsee, with wooded banks, grassy knolls, and clean waters; it's easily accessible by public transport.
Themroc
Venerdì 9 Aprile 2010
Themroc is a jewel of a restaurant, hidden in plain sight - I'd ridden my bike past this little hole in the wall dozens of times and never realized it was there. Now that my eyes have been opened, I can't believe how long I've lived without it.
Tartane
Martedì 16 Febbraio 2010
In a city where hamburgers are relative newcomers to the culinary scene ('Bouletten', although also made of ground beef, are really no comparison), the title for Berlin's best burger is hotly contested.
Tadschikische Teestube
Lunedì 8 Febbraio 2010
The Tadschikische Teestube (Tajikistan tearoom) is a warm and welcoming treasure hidden behind the Neue Wache on the busy tourist hub between Unter de Linden, Museum Island and Alexanderplatz, the perfect spot for a break after a day wandering around cold Berlin.
La Bonne Franquette
Mercoledì 20 Gennaio 2010
Happily a friendly new French brasserie has opened around the corner from Minilofts, a place that hits the spot, whether you opt for a casual yet classy lunch or relaxed dinner with good French wine.
Henne
Giovedì 24 Settembre 2009
At Henne, a Berlin institution, chicken-loving West Berliners used to lick their fingers with a distinctive view - the Berlin Wall stood right smack in front of the entrance. The menu is simple and to the point: a half chicken (€7,50), fried to perfection in a buttermilk batter, served with country bread, and sides of potato or slaw (€3,50).
Chi Sing
Mercoledì 24 Giugno 2009
A Miniloft guest waxed ecstatic over Chi Sing’s mango and coconut shake, so, our curiosity piqued, we headed over to check out the fashionable tranquility at the invitingly chic Vietnamese restaurant.
Reinstoff
Mercoledì 3 Giugno 2009
The Miniloft’s neighborhood is fast becoming a culinary hotbed! On top of Weinbar Rutz and Alpenstueck, this former food wasteland can now boast Reinstoff, newly opened and tucked away from the street in a courtyard.
Hasir
Giovedì 23 Aprile 2009
You can get a cheap Döner sandwich on almost every corner of Berlin, but for a really special Turkish meal head to Hasir.
Prater
Mercoledì 22 Aprile 2009
The chestnut trees are blooming, and there's no better way to celebrate Spring than with a mug of Pils (pilsner) or Dunkel (dark beer) under the blossoms and fresh new leaves at Prater, Berlin's oldest and deservedly most famous beer garden.
