In a city where hamburgers are relative newcomers to the culinary scene ('Bouletten', although also made of ground beef, are really no comparison), the title for Berlin's best burger is hotly contested. The Bird, an American bar in Prenzlauer Berg, is a good bet, but our favorite burger can be found at Tartane - and not only because it's a stone's throw from the Minilofts and the chef is Canadian. Their burger of the week (€9-10) is delicious, and the tiny bar's cool ambience and mosaics from the former Palast der Republik make it the perfect haunt - if you can get a seat.
