Twenty years ago, the restaurant Oderquelle lay in East Berlin, in the shadow of the Berlin Wall. Today, Oderbergerstrasse is a pretty and trendy street chock full of great restaurants, cool cafes, and absorbing shops with vintage GDR clothes and knick-knacks or modern designs. After a Sunday spent trolling the Mauerpark or Arkonaplatz flea markets for treasures, Oderquelle’s cozy dark wood booths and friendly service make it a welcome place for a delicious and hearty meal. Their weekly menu offers classic yet seasonal German fare - if roast goose is an option, don’t hesitate!
If you walk to Oderbergerstrasse from your Miniloft, you can follow the former path of the Berlin Wall, and see some sections that still stand.
