The Russians may have left East Berlin, but you can still get a taste – Café Gorki Park, named after the famous Moscow park, is a stylishly relaxed and comfortable café with beautiful fabric wallpaper, beloved by a fashionable Mitte crowd. Any time, day or night, is a good time to go to Gorki Park, but we love it especially for breakfast: the Arbeiterinnen und Bauern (Workers and Countrymen) spread for two is a scrumptious array of spinach and sour cream-filled Blinis (Russian crepes), smoked salmon, latkes, salmon caviar, pancake with homemade jam, scrambled eggs, fruit and more (€13,90). The café gracefully moves from the perfect spot for a relaxed breakfast to the perfect spot for the first drink of the evening (or afternoon, Berlin style).
