Park am Gleisdreieck
Tuesday, July 8, 2014
Berlin is not really wanting on the park front, with a bit of green space for everyone somewhere in the city. Whether it’s the winding streets of Tiergarten, the waterfall that runs through Viktoriapark, the sprawling oasis of the Naturpark Südgelände or the urban playground of Görlitzer Park in Kreuzberg, you’ve pretty much got a park for practically every mood.

Getting Green in Berlin: Miniloft’s favourite Urban Gardens
Monday, June 30, 2014
Berlin is by design a green city – and at Miniloft, we like to think of ourselves as a green-fingered lot. Whether it’s the roofgarden you’ll find at the top of our apartments, or the allotment our manager Andy keeps in his spare time, one of things that continually inspires us about Berlin is the creative and clever ways people manage to grow their own little oases in the city.

For the first of our new excursions series we've chosen the Wannsee area.
Ecomarket at Nordbahnhof
Wednesday, June 25, 2014
Farmers style markets and bio markets are big in Berlin at the moment. Over the last few years, various squares and streets have become new homes to weekly meetups where you can browse and shop produce from near and not so far away. So the arrival of the Okomarkt at Nordbahnhof (round the corner from us) is music to our ecologically sound ears at Miniloft.
Aufsturz Bar
Tuesday, June 3, 2014
Looking for beer in Berlin? And perhaps more specifically – something other than a couple of pilsners on draft? Then Aufsturz bar may be the one for you. Located within the sprawling stretch of bars on Oranienburger Strasse (a mere stones throw from Miniloft), Aufsturz – whose name literally translates as “fall up” – boasts over 100 different beers, gleaned from around the world. For every beer, you’ll find a corresponding serving vessel, which means that Aufsturz can probably lay claim to the broadest glass collection in the area.

The Grand Budapest Hotel – the Miniloft way
Monday, May 26, 2014
Some of the Miniloft team were recently talking about films set in hotels, following on from seeing Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel. Based on Stefan Zweig’s stories (for which we recommend picking up a copy of the Society of the Crossed Keys from Pushkin Press), The Grand Budapest Hotel features not one, but two possible day trips out from Miniloft – the lovely town of Görlitz and Studio Babelsberg, located right near Potsdam.
David Bowie Exhibition, Berlin
Monday, May 26, 2014
If you’ve been in Berlin in the last few weeks – or indeed, if you’ve been round the Miniloft office in the last few weeks – at some point, you may have encountered some advertisement, some conversation, some article about the newly opened ‘David Bowie’ exhibition. Like Christopher Isherwood in the 1930’s, for expats, Bowie is one of Berlin’s most famous adopted sons, and the ‘David Bowie’ exhibition offers a fascinating glimpse into an iconic career, including one of Bowie’s most creative periods, coincidentally occurring in 1970’s Berlin.
The OM-D: Photography Playground
Monday, May 12, 2014
Berlin is a photographer’s paradise – the sheer variety in architecture, city textures and those surprising wide open spaces that seem to pop out of nowhere offer plenty of fodder for your Flickr account. And then there are the places that are specially created with photographers in mind. And so we present the OM-D: Photography playground, a kind of pop exhibition come advertisement come photography wonderland made possible through Olympus.
