Schlachtensee and Die Fischerhütte
Thursday, August 5, 2010
In lazy summer, a trip out to one of Berlin's many lovely lakes is the perfect day trip. The lake Schlachtensee is smaller and more intimate than the nearby Wannsee, with wooded banks, grassy knolls, and clean waters; it's easily accessible by public transport.
Tadschikische Teestube
Monday, February 8, 2010
The Tadschikische Teestube (Tajikistan tearoom) is a warm and welcoming treasure hidden behind the Neue Wache on the busy tourist hub between Unter de Linden, Museum Island and Alexanderplatz, the perfect spot for a break after a day wandering around cold Berlin.
La Bonne Franquette
Wednesday, January 20, 2010
Happily a friendly new French brasserie has opened around the corner from Minilofts, a place that hits the spot, whether you opt for a casual yet classy lunch or relaxed dinner with good French wine.
Henne
Thursday, September 24, 2009
At Henne, a Berlin institution, chicken-loving West Berliners used to lick their fingers with a distinctive view - the Berlin Wall stood right smack in front of the entrance. The menu is simple and to the point: a half chicken (€7,50), fried to perfection in a buttermilk batter, served with country bread, and sides of potato or slaw (€3,50).
