For around 10 days every October, Berlin turns more shiny and colorful than ever due to the Festival of Lights.
The festival started in 2004 and it is now one of the most popular events in the city, attracting to more than 2 Million visitors.
This event is about the artistic lighting of the main monuments in the city, such as Brandenburg Gate, Fernsehturm, Berlin Cathedral or Berlin Victory Column.
Most of the illuminations are held daily between 7 am and 12 am but also, there are some special lights and other events in specific locations in certain days, as the illuminations in the "Umspannwerk" Kreuzberg (or the Cathedral of electricity) with its artistic projection, the show of "The Voice of Germany" at Märksiches Viertel or several Photo-Workshops.
This year, October is also the "European Month of Photography", normally in November, that makes Berlin in the perfect destination for Photography lovers, including a contest for the best photo of the festival taken, as part of the program.
