The chestnut trees are blooming, and there's no better way to celebrate Spring than with a mug of Pils (pilsner) or Dunkel (dark beer) under the blossoms and fresh new leaves at Prater, Berlin's oldest and deservedly most famous beer garden. In fine weather, the long picnic tables are packed, with happy folks of all ages enjoying the housemade beer and tasty Wurst and potato salad. Even the pickles are especially delicious at Prater! As an added bonus, the Volksbühne, one of the city's most exciting theatres, is undergoing renovations and has moved many of its productions into Prater's small adjoining theatre, spruced up for the occasion.
