The Rixdorf Weihnachtsmarkt is one of Berlin's prettiest Christmas markets. Rixdorf was once a little village that got swallowed up by the big city, and the charming tree-lined square, lit by gas lamps, still has an old-fashioned air. The market is on for one weekend only, and it's small and sweet, with great food, a small stage with carolers and children's shows, pony rides, and even the three Magi with real camels. The wares and stalls tend more towards handmade crafts rather than the slick commerical cheapness that dominates some of the larger markets. You won't find a gigantic ferris wheel here, just plenty of Glühwein, twinkling lights, and a comfortable family atmosphere.
Easiest way to get there from the Miniloft apartment s: take the U6 train (direction Alt-Mariendorf) to Mehringdamm, then change to the U7 (direction Rudow) to Karl-Marx-Strasse.
