40 galleries, 40 openings, three days. A succinct description for the sprawling Gallery Weekend, a marathon weekend of contemporary art celebrating Berlin's most prestigious collectors and galleries. Even some museums are on board - there are exhibitions of Frida Kahlo and Olafur Eliason (a gorgeous hallway of faceted mirrors) at Martin Gropius Bau (Niederkirchnerstr. 7, Tiergarten) and Berlinische Galerie has video art by Julian Rosefeldt (Alte Jakobstraße 124-128, Kreuzberg).
There are more than enough options to fill the weekend just within walking distance of the Minilofts - hang out with Damien Hirst and his latest preserved animals at Haunch of Vension (Heidestr. 46), see paintings by Elizabeth Peyton at Galerie Neugerriemschneider (Lininstr. 155), or check out the buzz surrounding the me Collectors Room, a new private museum showcasing the stunning private collection of Thomas Olbricht (Augustr. 68).
