Mitte’s reputation for being the fancier centre of Berlin’s rough-round-the-edges charm is perhaps deserved – but that doesn’t mean the whole area is all airs and graces. Take Larry Bar, where it’s possible to party in a fuss free and thoroughly down to earth way.
Opened in 2013, Larry’s is the kind of bar where simple reigns supreme. A small ish, unpretentious drinks list (Larrys is often described as an “anti-cocktail bar”) a great cosy vibe and a pinball machine from the 1970’s are all on offer here. Which makes Larry the kind of grown-up dive bar where you can drink, people watch and have the kind of fun that only comes from not sitting in a fancy bar drinking a fancy cocktail.
