It's impossible to have a drink at Kosmetiksalon Babette without marvelling the glamorous architecture of the bar. The 1960's Soviet-Era glass box is on the main drag of Karl Marx Allee (hence KMA 36) the former official parade route of East Berlin. Once a GDR cosmetic salon, the bar sets itself apart from the monolithic concrete apartment blocks as a jewel of modern design. Low tables, a floating staircase and sparce retro furniture set a calm mood. An upper mezzanine hosts private parties, art events or DJ's. With a mixed-aged, hip crowd, Babette is the place to have a martini or a stimulating conversation after visiting an opening at gallery Capitain Petzel (also in a glass cube) across the street, or before a film at the stunning GDR treasure Kino International.

On December 10th, vinyl-loving iCrates Magazine celebrates its first birthday, with the musical stylings of Orchestre Miniature in the Park, a huge, joyful band whose members all play miniature instruments.
